I'm a new rider in Edmonton, I've had my scoots for 2 years now, (An AllState Bluebadge smalframe and a Rally 180 largeframe) and I'm not a member of any club of anysort yet.
But i do have questions:
Where is everyone buying/getting parts from? Top Gear has been nothing but a pain in the but to get anything from. Waiting weeks to months just to find out they got the wrong part, and one needs to start all over again.
I'll have to try to come out to a club ride/meet at somepoint now that i know a club exists in Edmonton.

Welcome, glad to hear from you.
Firstly to answer your question about part sourcing.
Most of the Edmonton club members in Edmonton use Dennis @ scooterMD in vancouver as our source for parts, advice, etc. You will not find a better person to deal with. I personally have been dealing with him since 1997. (604.879.9501), when all else fails I have a few USA sources that are very good as well.
The club in Edmonton is new, but the core group is a great bunch of guys. We all share a passion for Italian scooters and have all done work on our scooters, so we could be a valuable souce for info or help. We are looking to grow the club, so you should meet with us and consider joining. We try and ride as often as possible and do meet the first sunday of every month in little Italy.
We are all getting together this Saturday and riding to the show and shine on whyte avenue ( at around 1.00pm) ....let us know if you are interested. The club dues are very reasonable and you get a 10% discount on parts through ScooterMD.
you can contact me direct @ buzzin_hornet64@yahoo.com with any further questions.
Cheers Angelo

If i can get my clutch going again, then, yes i would be interested in the ride on the weekend (baring horible weather). I would also consider joining the club as well.
I'd prefer to deal with local (or as close as possible to local) I don't like to deal with long wait times and customs/brokers fee's etc...
Hopefully i can find a replacement inner clutch cable for my smallie by then. (maybe i can borrow it from my rally temporally)

okay let me know how you make out. Dennis can get you stuff over night or within a few days if he has it in stock. A few extra bucks for shipping is worth waiting months.....besides being located in Van you don't have to pay duty, etc. Your choices are limited as I'm sure you are aware. Give him a call...you may have your part before the weekend!
btw I'm fairly cetain that the parts are not interchangeable..

Just waiting for the mail to arrive with my new credit card, so i can place an order for a clutch cable. Being that its already past middle of the week, this weekend looks like a bust for placing an order for me.
I'm going to hit the motorcycle shops to see if i can find something that will tide me over till a proper cable can arrive.

Well, after the rounds of a few shops the best solution was to make a new end for the clutch cable. I got a soldier nipple end for the handle and made it work to the best of our ability. I seemed to hold after i got it on the cable, so i took smallie out on the test voyage. It broke off a few blocks from the house.
So it looks like i won't be with you fine folks for the ride.
I'll see if i can at least find my way over to little Italy and meet you before you head off.

Does anyone know if a VBB clutch cable is the same as the Rally? Dennis sent me a couple spares and I would be happy to part with one.

The clutch cable inner is pretty universal.

Well, I finally was able to get out to the old Rally parts bucket and find what i needed to borrow from it to get the smallframe back onto the road again.
One clutch cable and one gear cable. (I messed up one gear cable while playing around trying to get the clutch outer back into proper position in the headset.) The whole process took allot longer than i thought it would.
I took it out for a spin tonight, and it seems to be Ok now.
Yippee... now to make a list of parts i should be ordering. Gonna need more than just cables. Grrr.

Gals to see that I am not the only one that has trouble getting parts from top gear!!! What a pain, they seem to have a short memory, you order the parts, then in a week or two phone them to see if they are in and then they tell you that they forgot to order your stuff. Will have to try scootermd. thanks

I have a 1983 p200 that is just being put back together after new paint, rebuilt motor, the works. I also have a 1960 vgla, that is all original and running. Haven't really had a chance to get them out much.
