Bruce, Jeff, Kathy and myself have secured the title of "Longest trip home after the Calgary Rally from Edmonton". Yeah so there. I'm pretty damn sure it would have been quicker to scoot home than to drive.
Bruce and Jeff have more Kilometers traveled, but, Kathy and I have the lower average speed. I'm not sure how I'm gonna work the prizes out for this one.
Oh yeah, and for the most part, Red Deer sucks. Except for two people, you know who you are.

Yeah, nothing like getting past Red Deer, well into the home stretch and then your cell phone rings... Your friends are stranded 80 KM back with a flat tire on the trailer. Then it gets to be 5 pm on a holiday Monday and you are trying to find a replacement for a really non standard rim and the tire machine at Canadian Tire "ain't workin" according to their service person. This Rhodes Scholar neglects to tell us that there is another Crappy Tire (with a fully functional tire changer) on the other side of town. All's well that ends well however, we did get the tire changed eventually and limped home. We left Calgary before noon, and got home at 9 pm. Topcat's ride was certainly longer than our trip, but I bet his was a hell of alot more enjoyable!

Jeff, My ride was fun until the rear brake disappeared in Revelstoke. I grabbed the brakes to stop for a red light and the left brake lever went straight to the grip with no resistance. Yikkees !!!! Of course on a holiday Monday there was nothing open that could affect a repair, so I limped (90 - 100 km/hr) home with only the front brake. It ended up taking me 13.5 hours. Thank god for a comfortable seat.

my sympathy goes out to all of you!
this years trip back to Calgary from Victoria was something close to 20 hours...rental truck broke down in Kelowna...holiday monday so had to wait for anyone to get back to us...
then there was Torrie getting stuck driving thru Rogers pass again! I didn't help as co-pilot by halucinating from sleep deprivation..."There's a Moose on the road!"
I'm flying to Van this year.
