Roy just called from Princeton....his ride has gone well, but unfortunately passed an accident (40 km from Princeton) where it looked like a motorcyclist did not make it......(covered in sheets) - makes you think twice for sure.....sad to hear it.....
Roy did say the ride thru Manning Park was really beautiful though.
Ok... I am leaving my Office now....and see you all soon

Yup, he made it. Roy arrived at Vespa Kelowna at about 7:00 yesterday evening, none the worse for wear. Thanks for sending the posters Dennis. Can't wait to get the walls painted so we can hang them.

I cant believe it!!! We have pictures of the bare concrete floor and unpainted walls at Vespa Kelowna - not exactly what you thought you would get hey Dennis? ;D....but Ron, Bruce et al are working night and day to get the work done in the short time they have since the lease was signed.
Tooooooooooooooooooo bad that the shipment of Vespas have to wait till Tuesday to be unloaded. Roy and I have been itching to see the LX....stoooooopid unions!
The space they have is under cosmetic construction but is a really nice space and good location with tons of parking. I know they will do well here.
Cant wait to see it next month when the store is full of Vesssssssssssssssssssssspas!

Thought I should give a quick road trip report here...
Harry and I made it up safe and had a great ride. It is really scooter country up here!!!! The weather and scenery are just perfect for rides and everybody is very friendly.
The ride through Manning Park is beautiful and the road through the mountains is not too steep. There were lots of motorcycles on the road Friday...and everybody seemed happy seeing a Vespa making it over the mountains.
Yeah, one somber moment was passing this accident scene 40km before Princeton. The motorcycle rider was covered with sheets...not a good sign.
Near Keremeos I had a bee flying up my sleeve which forced me to stop on the side of the road. Did a crazy dance, but it was already too late, the bee had stung me. I was standing there for 2 minutes when a Harley rider stopped and asked me whether I need help. He thought that Harry had a problem. Nice folks out here, really.
In Keremeos I saw 2 Vespas on the side of the road in front of a produce store with a For Sale sign....I had to stop of course and ak the owenr for the story of the bikes. He imports lots of stuff from Indonesia and it looks like he was inspired by Johnny Beware to import the bikes. He has a total of 3 bikes for sale. 2 are 1977 Vespas and one is a 1964!!! They look modified to some extent but not really restored. He is more into making a quick buck just bringing the bikes over and letting the buyer restore them. I got pictures that I will post when I amm back at home.
Riding along Okannagan Lake coming up from Penticton was again a very nice ride. There are plenty of opportunities here for a cool Vespa camping weekend at the lake.
When I made it into Kelowna I stopped at the new Vespa Kelowna location. Bruce and Ron were still working at the store. I agree with Delia's comments above.
Saturday I went through the classified section of the papers up here. Bruce gave me some of the listings as well. Same story as in Vancouver though. All the trailers we saw are too wide so that we wouldn't be able to bring them around our house. We may have to go with a 4" by 4" trailer I saw at Canadian tire. has 8" wheels though, but is light enough so that we can flip and carry it around the house.
Delia and I are planning to go on a ride with the VCoO group today (as long as we don't keep them too long from their work at the store...everybody is helping).
Bruce offered to take his carrier for the way back to Vancouver. I think that's probaby what we end up doing.
Cheers!

Message for Bruce / Ron:
Delia and I had a good tripo back home. The bike carrier worked out perfect. Saved me a sour butt today.
You're ready for Christmas in August??? Wished I was there for the uncrating of the new bikes today.
We will send you the pictures from the weekend shortly (and post some of them too).
Let us know if/when you''re coming down to the coast!
Have fun today and again good luck and best wishes with the store.

Glad everyone made it home in one piece. Truck rolled up to the shop this morning and the driver said he had 2 scooters to deliver. Somewhat perplexed we unloaded the boxes. We got one plum LX 50 and a bunch of accessories. The scooter is gorgeous and we got a pile of really nice add ons. Late this afternoon the driver came back to tell us the rest of the scooters had arrived but they couldn't deliver until after 5:00. So, we will head down after dinner to unload the rest. Should be very exciting. The shop is starting to look really good and people are already starting to stop in to look at the bikes.
By the way, Telus called today and we should have phones working by tomorrow. Thanks very much for intervening Roy and Delia, and a big thank you to the Vancouver member who just happens to be with Telus.
Once we have all the bikes uncrated, I will post some photos.
After working our butts of all weekend, we're finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Very exciting times in Kelowna!!!
Oh man, I really wished we could have stayed longer and be part of this!!
The club member here in Vancouver is Tim, aka hobospeed. I passed on the offer from Ron...so he may hold Ron to it one day ;D
All that really counts is that you guys are able to open the doors and sell the bikes. I am sure there will be a lot of interest the next few weeks in Kelowna in the new bikes.
By the way, I agree, the LX is a beautiful bike.
I called the guy here in Vancouver regarding the trailer. I told him I have a buyer and will pick it up this week. Please let me know in case you changed your mind. Otherwise I will get the trailer as well as the insurance so that Ron only needs to pick it up when he comes down to Vancouver.
Don't forget to take pictures!!!!!

Hey Ron & Bruce..... Check out the pics I posted on the main board of the site and the links to the rest of the pics. It is almost 2am, so I am too tired (even though Dennis calls me Dremel) to post any more pics here..... Roy is going to email all of the pics in a zip file so you can have the full size best quality avail in case you want to do enlargements. Very excited for you!!!! Delia & Roy link for you (of course) www.vespaclubofcanada.com/disp_journ.php?show=61&page=1

Rest of the scooters (except for one Typhoon which is still MIA) arrived last night. The LX is beautiful in pearl and red (might have to get one for my wife). We got one grey PX which is a smoking nice scooter. Can't wait to take it for a ride to compare it to my P125X. The X9 is fantastic (and a bugger for 3 people to lift off a pallet). If I ever wanted to buy a maxi scooter, that might be the one.
Nothing like taking a brand new, untouched scooter out of a packing crate, especially something like the PX.

By the way Delia, we have a Sito pipe for an ET2 if you want it. Also, Ron still wants the trailer so make it so. Don't know if he or I or both of us will be coming to Vancouver this weekend so you guys go ahead and make plans to go to Portland. We are just too busy to plan much more than 12 hours ahead, plus we're afraid of our wives.
Thank you Tim! Hope to have a chance to thank you in person soon. Our phone number at the shop is 868-3772 (86VESPA).
