Just wondering if the Toronto branch is up and running.

I have no idea. I'm in London, so does that still make me part of the T-Dot branch?

Yeah, unfortunately right now we do not have a functioning branch in Ontario. We have had some interest in getting a branch in Toronto and Ottawa. I have encouraged those who expressed interest to use this forum (as well as some of the local yahoo group/forums) to work on getting interest going.
We just need to keep on it. Thanks for keeping things alive kids.

:DJust a thought, What if we use the local Vespa dealers in the area to spread the word. Buy a new or used scoot and receive first year free membership to the club. I have talked to a few people, but they act like it is a TOP SECRET SOCIETY. I feel that this life style should be for anyone that shows interest in riding a scooter. I'm not trying to turn it into COSTCO, But a club we say we are proud to be apart of. I know I'm proud to be a scooter freak. My cheque's in the mail for my membership.

Vespa Canada has done exactly that. From June - Sept. of this year, they have purchased a membership for everyone who bought a new Vespa anywhere in Canada.
We have a long list of names of people who have new bikes all across the country. We have sent them membership packages and a special promo shirt. However, we cannot use this info for anything else. So its really up to those new members to band together and form a few branches.
We can contact those who have confirmed their membership, and who have provided email addresses. But we have to respect the privacy of those who havent.
The branch needs people like yourself to work on getting these Vespa riders to join in on the forum, and get something going over there in the east. I know Vespa Canada will totally support the forming of a new branch. But they have no time to run the week to week activities.
So pass the word in Ontario that this forum exists. Hopefully something will be formed before the next riding season begins.

You are so right, you touched on allot of points that I overlooked. Joining a club isn't for everyone, but the more the merrier. I'll do my best. ;D

Howdy folks! I'm one of those new Vespa purchasers (2006 GT200) that was pleasantly surprised by getting my membership in the mail yesterday. It took a while - I bought the scooter September 2.
It's my first motorized 2 wheels - and I love it!
I live just north of the Beaches (1 km from Motoretta in the Beach) and work at Steeles and Dufferin. I put 2100 km on the scooter just commuting. In the spring I hope to get a bit more adventurous as my experience level grows.
I would be very interested in a local chapter. I'll keep watching the board.

Please don't take my comment about it taking a long time to get my membership as a complaint. I just wanted people to know there may be a few others getting their memberships even though most of us are snow-bound.
I actually didn't know I was going to get a free year. It was a wonderful Christmas surprise!
I really like the GT. I HATE being back on public transit and can't wait for road conditions to improve.
I'll jump on to those other threads - thanks for linking to them.

I know you didn't mean to complain about how long it took until you received your membership. I just thought I mention the process for everybody out there in case some people were wondering why it took us so long. We'll hope that Vespa Canada will continue the promo next year. I think it is good for the growht of the National Club and I think it is good for Vespa helping new riders to get in touch with other scooter enthusiasts. Glad you found us online! Hope we'll be meeting you some day. If you go to our home page, we have a members Bios section www.vespaclubofcanada.com/bios.php . Feel free to post your Bios with a picture of you and your bike if you like.

I'll be filling out the bio, etc. once I get my confirming message from the club (just sent in my e-mail stuff yesterday).
I'll attempt to get a picture or two to post, but that means wrestling with that darned digital camera!!

Welcome on the board, Helmut!
Hope you will join the other guys setting up a branch of the club in the Toronto area or at least join them on some group rides this year.
Did you buy a new scooter recently or have you been a scooterist for some time?
