Since purchasing my 1970 Vespa Sprint 150, I have realized that I have to monitor everything from brake lines to engine wear and tear on a consistent basis (probably more frequent than the newer models).
I consider myself a "do-it-yourself" type of person and want to learn how to do this all myself. Although I'm constantly referring to various scooter books and websites, I feel that I'm not getting the "just of it" and would rather have someone teach me.
I went on some other scooter sites in the US and noticed that some groups would organize a series of workshops where a licensed mechanic (with scooter know-how) would teach various topics from maintenance to engine rebuilds. I tried finding such a thing in the GTA, but could not locate anything.
A couple of weeks back, I purchased a Vespa mirror on eBay from a guy in Toronto. We agreed to make the exchange in person (since he was located near me). When we met, we began to talk about scooters and he told me he was a licensed mechanic and used to work at "Scooters on Front" in Toronto (this is a scooter shop on Front Street).
I asked him if he was aware of any clinics and he didn't know of any. Then I suggested whether he could conduct one. He said it was quite possible and would get back to me. He got back to me
last week and indicated that he would be interested in setting something up. He also has a garage in Toronto and would conduct this workshop there.
Would anyone be interested in participating in such a clinic?
I have no idea of cost (it probably won't be alot if we get a good turn-out). We can decide on what we would like to learn. Maybe a basic maintenance intro, changing all the cables, tires, tune-ups. Or even an engine rebuild clinic.
Please let me know! I really want to do this.
Thanks
