Not too much discussion from our Ottawa members... Let's get some threads started!

It would be great to see a bit more traffic in this forum as well.
Unfortunately we don't have many active members in the Ottawa region or for that matter in Ontario. Would be nice to change that.
Rossodragon, don't be discouraged if there is not much response here. if you meet any scooterists on the street, spread the word and ask them if they would like to join you on your scooter.
If you get a small group together that way, that would be the first step and hopefully it will grow over time.
If you have and questions, you can always email me at president @ vespaclubofcanada dot com.
Cheers.

There is actually quite a strong and long running scooter community in Ottawa, they have just chosen to not to join the VCoC. I have spoken to a bunch of people from Ottawa, and they are just not interested in joining.

But that doesn't mean they can't waste their day away chatting on the forum and making fun of the rest of us.

I have spoken to a bunch of people from Ottawa, and they are just not interested in joining. That is totally cool. Nobody is forced into joining the VCoC. Also, you can be member of a local scooter Club and still join the VCoC. So one doesn't rule out the other. By the way, we have currently about a dozen VCoC members in Ottawa. Most of them joined us via the Vespa Canada promo. Would be cool if some of them would find there way to this forum. I am sure there are things we could learn from each other.

I think it takes determination, effort and a heck of a lot of time to get these things off the ground. I'm still a newby (since March)but I have really enjoyed the social aspect of scootering. With two Rally's down so far and three more to go this summer I'm thankful to be involved with such an enthusiastic club. However the club here in Calgary is only a year old. In a sense, I still got in on the ground level.
And I don't know how to express the thrill of a group ride. In Victoria there was over a hundred scooters in one solid unbroken line riding for over an hour straight. It's so much fun to take part in. Our weekly rides in Calgary get turn outs of a dozen or so. Then we exchange praise, problems, suggestions and solutions with each other over coffee (sometimes beer).
And that's what's great about this community. It seems everyone is helping each other, and it's not just mechanical help. I've met some lawyers on a personal level through scootering. Lord only knows if that'll come in handy some day. I'm installing a third Hot Water Tank for a person in the local club. I've been talking about getting some paint on my Vespa and lo' and behold I just won $250 worth of pro-painting at the Edmonton Rally!
I would suggest posting about a specific date/time for a group meet'n'greet and ride at a coffee shop (eg. Tues 7pm Starbucks). Make sure you show up for it. Don't be discouraged by a low or non-turn-out. Maybe print off some cheap posters for places where you see scooterists, like VespaOttawa, pubs, and make tuck some under the seat straps of scoots you see. I don't know exactly, but that's how I'ld wake them up.

Ok folks, spring is upon us. If the weather stays the way it has, some will start to ride. As for me i am already riding. Lets get this club together. I see nothing more beautiful than a group of mods strutting our beautiful vespas by riding together. Indeed lets wake up and take for a spin.
Cheers.

by the time ive read all that, decorated my scooter with tat. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tat {Thank the lord for wiki} read the english meaning pressed my suit it'l either be raining or dark. but as long as you enjoy your scooter thats the main thing m8. although i did ride with a group of mods once in england, and on the motorway the traffic came to a complete standstill. fortunatly lane splitting is perfectly legal, but unfortunatly alot of em could not fit there machines though the traffic and were left in the rain, stuck right there or forced to ride down the shoulder which is illegal..lol.
