Kellies Diner 1:00pm 2546 Hastings Street East, Vancouver
Used to be Frenchies so it's still got the cheezy decor but they don't serve over priced hotdogs. Instead it's just good old fashioned diner food. Mind you this will be my first time eating there too so I'm just guessing it's good....

Some thoughts on my first Sunday meal with you kids.
1. You're all a load of fun.
2. You should really consider calling ahead and letting the bespectacled bag of nerves serving the food that you'll be seating 20 for brunch at 1300 hrs.
3. Any restaurant that does not have the foresight to prepare for the Midday waffle rush is no place I feel compelled to eat again.
Cheers Courtus

Too bad we Delia and I missed the brunch on Sunday. Would have liked being there, but we decided to spend the weekend with my parents in Kelowna.
We'll hopefully able to make it to the next one.

Courtus - History - The attendance at Sunday brunch varies wildly. 15 people one day, 3 the next. RSVPs don't seem to work. Diners are the place of choice because they tend to be able to handle that. I note, the staff were having trouble with the six people in the place before we got there. I ordered a smoked meat sandwich and a ginger ale and ended up with a BLT and a glass of orange juice. But the company was great.
Rocket- I will try to remind you in the future. Do you prefer rubber bands around your wrist or a note pinned to your jacket?
Simone - Thanks for organising this. The price was right. I've heard of refried beans, but never refried omletes.

I do admit that I had great hopes for the place but ya can't win'em all.
DD is right as I am loth to make a reservation for the reasons he stated. And I found in the past even when I did warn a place that there were going to 10+ of us they still didn't improve anything. Hell, we even had one last year that I called but they still ran out of eggs. They won't all be perfect breakfasts, that's the fun of the experiment.
However the food may have sucked but it was cheap and they did make up for it by letting us fully take over the place, crank up the juke box and almost turn it into a dance party.
Unless someone has another suggestion the plan for next Sunday Nov 12 is the Smile cafe on Pender st. A small handful of us went there last year and we loved it. I will go a bit early and try to warn them of people comming.

Hey Simone, I thought the plan was unless someone suggests otherwise next Sundays brunch will again be at Kellies diner. Amazing prices...a denver, clubhouse, 2 grilled cheese, 3 coffee and an orange juice for 20 bucks! And I watched the waiter stuff a whack of money into his front pockets...I thought he was going to do a runner Thanks for organizing this stuff. Good seeing so many out. Curt
