Hey everyone...
Has anyone had experience shipping their scooter to another city? I'm interested in the Toronto-Vancouver path, but i'm sure other experiences can offer insight as well. Is it possible to do by rail directly through via or cn? Or am i on crack thinking that? There are a few auto-moving companies that do motorcycles, so i count that as an option if necessary, but i don't know who is recommended or who is to be avoided.
Any input would be appreciated.

Hey,
I would ask Dennis (Fastuff/scooterMD) who he recomends, he used to ship bikes around canada for his customers and such. Or you could try Big Chris at empire, he must have shipped a bike or two.
good luck,
Tim
PS What are you moving away to the centre of the universe or something?

The centre of the Universe has great drawing power....
(It may take me awhile though... gearing up for a Christmas move but it all depends on the work. At the moment i am too poor to move across the country)

Why bring your scooter anyway, it will only feel neglected in the MANY months out of the year that you cannot ride.

Because of the months of the year I CAN ride.
Besides, if i can ride year round in Vancouver, can't i at least ride 8 or 9 months of the year in T.O.? I admit i may be in denial about that, or suffering from selective memory.

You'll think I'm nuts - but depending on the scoot - could you drain it and pack it and send it on on the bus ?? Greyhound seems to ship everything else ...

I just got a shipment of scooters in. Drop by before the end of this week.(plan on doing a garbage run, now that the dump is open and I'll get rid of them all)
Take a pallet, the cardboard crate, it's lid, and your half way there. You just have to screw it all together and use some packing tape on the lid.
They always have to be crated and this will help you. Good companies for shipping are Quick "X", and Canadian Freightways. They will want the gas drained and the battery disconnected.
Cheers,
Bob
