Sorry to dredge up the insurance questions again ... I wondered about others with a vintage scooter and their insurance arrangements .. It took my insurance company 3 weeks to research it - and they now advise that since my scooter is over 30 yrs old I cannot get collision or comprehensive coverage. So no theft or fire coverage... It will cost approx $400.00 to get a basic package for the year - and my rep advised me to wait till the spring when I put the scoot back on the road ... Is this generally everyone's else's experience?? Thanks Jacques ;D

On a '67 Sprint and '79 P200, I pay about 80 dollars each. That's just to make them road legal.
This is in Alberta. Yay, privatization!
I go through wawanesa. They classify them as 'mopeds'. haha.
I do however have 4 bikes insured with them.

OUtside of Alberta I suspect you will get one answer and fairly standard fees...in Alberta since it is privatized it's a gong show:
I was quoted between 500 and 1000 for a year and that included theft. One place (that queued gave me, refused me outright?!) The frustrating part was some places wanted an inspection (in addition to my out of province inspection) for their appraisal. Most places had no clue what a Vespa is.
I ended up lumping it in with my car insurance with Allstate. Since I have been with them for a while it was easier for me to TELL them what the deal was. They also mentioned the inspection but I explained that was rediculous since my bike needed an OPI anyway and I provided them with an "appraisal" from Vespa Calgary on the value of the bike then when the OPI was done I sent Allstate a copy of the inspection. My lunp amount is about 100$/per month for full coverage on my 2002 Mazda Protege, 1979 Primavera and collision only on a Vino.
