Hi All, I have a new GTS-250 on order that I hope to pick next week. Just though I'd say hi and ask how the Calgary scene is doing. Are there regular meets? Or cruises? Would love to come out and meet you guys! PS. Fish-tail parkers.. available in Canada?

Fishtails under $100 from Crown Surplus.
You should invest in snow tires pretty soon. Or fill your pockets with rock salt and fling a handfull in front of you, consistently.

Crown Surplus. Many thanks!
Do you guys ride all year round? I was expecting to have to garage it over winter...

Flat like the birds in your picture, Roy. Rockie Mountain high's, eh?
As long as the roads are dry we'll go for a spin. The warmer it is, the further we tend to ride. Chinooks make at least decent one ride/month possible.

There's a select few of us that take the winter challenge. This is year 3 for me.

Well this is good news! Winter riding sounds like a right laugh.
How much hassle is it to swap tyres? Or do you swap wheels which already have winter tyres on them? Sorry for the complete noob questions, but, well, I am a complete noob! lol. I've never owned a scooter or motorbike before.

Uh, well, the thing is 'winter tyres' don't exist in the land of Vespas, really. Most especially for a shiny, new GTS (due, mostly to oddball tyre sizes.) On the vintage bikes we can kind of make due with semi-knobbies that are made for kids' 50cc dirtbikes, but it's less than ideal. What you really have to do is bite your lip and embrace the Krylon touch, because it's a land of uncertainty and humility. You WILL fall. Hard. Lots. This is why Calgary has so many ratbikes amongst the select few with the stones/stupidity to ride in the winter. Myself included. Oh, and yeah, changing tyres on a modern automatic is a super-bitch. Haha.

LOL. Thanks for the reply. Being a complete novice with no riding experience, perhaps I'll stick with the car through the winter months!
