Take an extra day off or so, grow a sack, and join me for the ride down. Okay, so who's considering riding down? Christian If there is a ride, Calgary is there. We may wreck, but we'll be there. I booked time off work today. aa

The ASC wants to know where the hospitals are. You know, in case we have to merge into traffic or something.

I just booked in style... Seattle Sheraton Towers 4*... $107/nt + taxes+fees = $128/nt inclusive. (Priceline)
parking adds at least $15/night... just about anywhere downtown.
that makes it easy for my *lovely* wife to do her thing... whilst I do mine.
now... time to shovel out the scoot... and try to get her runnin'...

ummmmm...question. Why is Kymco providing demos at Amerivespa? Just curious as I thought this was a Vespa/Lambretta event.
Can anyone fill me in?

I have to see whether or not I am going to be in Ontario during this Rally. If not, I'm there, and in for the ride down.

Eighth Avenue Inn it is.
The LAMERIvespa site recommends the Travelodge close to the needle. So some of us that were going to stay at Georgetown Inn are moving to the Eighth Avenue Inn and will expect the people at the Travelodge to brgrudgingly invite us, like distant relatives or the neighbour who lives ten houses down the street, to use their pool...Ryan. If you're good, we'll bring suits. We will be a block or two away and dropping by CONSTANTLY. At funny hours. And everybody will be within a six block ride of Lake Union Park, where most of the long events will take place. Which makes the ride to Seattle easier once in Seattle. Besides, I hear the Travelodge is going to be the late night party headquarters.

I've heard from reliable sources that Neville Staples (of the Specials) is playing Amerivespa on Friday Night!

From the discussions on another forum, it sounds like Vespa USA was invited to participate, but didn't. Kymco and Genuine Scooter Co stepped up to the plate and made significant contributions. You can read more in this thread . In particular, read JD Merriweather's (aka: greyhound) response near the bottom of page 1. He is the president of the VCOA and spells out what happened. - Michael

I thought for a second she might be a brit...but then I remembered she was cooking socks, which are too tasty to be mistaken for British food.

Thanks for the link Harndam. I still think it is odd.. Rather than odd, I consider it to be short-sighted and disappointing. Vespa does not seem to recognize that their target market in N.America is different than in Europe.

Everyone seems to agree there's a huge growth in the entire scooter market, not just potentially. I don't know that marketing of the Vespa brand to scooterists is as necessary as it would be for Kymco.
There are Vespa's on display in healthfood stores, coffeeshops, malls, etc. It seems to me they're primarily marketing to non-scooter enthusiasts. It makes some sense to try to reach and convert the broader market, instead of those already dependably loyal to the brand.
On the other hand there's very few loyal to the Kymco brand, even within the scooter crowd who already believe it's a good product and good value. Marketing to us might prove to be an easier sell, especially if Piaggio doesn't/won't.
I saw an ad on TV for Honda showing the range of it's product line from cars, ATV's, motorcycles and generators but no scooters. I found this a little odd but whatever.
Obviously the marketing departments of any scooter company has to consider value for their money and will proceed with the strategy of what they feel is potentially the most profitable.
